JADAYUPARA

Jadayu, the mythical bird from the great Indian epic Ramayana, is believed to have collapsed on this huge rock at a place called Chadayamangalam in Kollam. The bird was on its way after failing in its attempt to thwart the evil king Ravana’s kidnapping of Sita. An 18 feet high statue of Lord Sri Rama has also been constructed on top of the rock popularly known as Jadayupara. Tons of stone has been used to craft and erect such a mammoth bird figure on top of the rock at such a height. The effort to build such an amazing artwork is incredibly great and it took a few years to complete it. It is one of the main attractions of the place and is frequented by tourists and travellers from across the country and abroad.
