
SHENDURUNY WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
It is a tropical semi-evergreen forest which is the abode of elephants, bisons, sambar, wild boar, deer and many other wild animals. This sanctuary gets its name from a tree called Chenkurunji whose botanical name is Gluts Travancorica. The sanctuary spreads over a hilly terrain of over 172 sq km. There is also an artificial lake formed by the Parappar Dam in this wildlife sanctuary. Rich with natural beauty, it would recharge the exhausted batteries of any visitor.
